• Vice-President  of WFUMB (World Federation of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology) 2023-2025; WFUMB Past-President 2025-
• Chair of the Congress Committee (2021-2024) of WFUMB; 2017-2021, 2023-2025 Director of the WFUMB COE Task Force Europe, Director of the WFUMB Center of Education (COE) Timișoara since 2007.
• Past President of the Romanian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (SRUMB) (2006-2010) and Past President of the Romanian Society of Gastroenterology and Hepatology (2013-2015).
• EFSUMB (European Federation of Societies in Medicine and Biology): 1999-2002 - member of the Executive Board; 1999-2005 member in the Educational Committee; 2007-2011 Honorary Treasurer of EFSUMB.
• -Since 2017 member of the Romanian Academy of Medical Sciences.
• Author and co-author of 335 original papers (PubMed publications), with a Hirsch index of 47 (Web of Science) and 57 on Google Schoolar, author and co-author of 35 medical books and of 16 educational medical CDs and DVDs, co-author of 17 EFSUMB and WFUMB Guidelines.
• President of Euroson Congress 2008 and WFUMB Congress 2022, both in Timisoara.
• Co-Director of Ultrasound Learning Center at UEGW (United  European Gastroenterological Week) for 4 years. Co-Director at WGO Congress (World Gastroenterological Organisation) Ultrasound Learning Course in 2021.
• Prizes of the Romanian Academy for the books: “Hepatic Elastography Using Ultrasound Waves” in 2017 and in 2024 for the book: “What’s new in Gastroenterology and Hepatology”.
• The Great Prize of the Romanian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology – “Gheorghe Badea” in 1999 (“For Outstanding Scientific and Editorial Activity in 1999”), 2002, 2006, 2013, 2022 and 2025. The “Gheorghe Jovin” Award of the Romanian Society of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology in 2014. In 2024 Oct.: Doctor Honoris Causa to the University of Medicine and Pharmacy Chișinău, Moldavia.
• In 2024 November became Honorary Member of the European Federation of Ultrasound in Medicine and Biology (EFSUMB). From mai 2025 Honorary Member of Japan Society of Ultrasonics.
