- Specialty/Focus: Atanasova’s main area of expertise is Hepato-biliary and pancreas pathology, GE oncology and IBD.
- Education/Training: Atanasova graduated Medicine at the Medical University of Sofia in 2008. In 2009 she started her residency in Gastroenterology. She became a specialist in Gastroenterology in 2016 and in the same period she defended her PhD thesis in Gastroenterology. In 2023 and 2024 she conducted fellowships in Interventional Ultrasound under the supervision of Prof. Christian Nølsoe (Denmark) and Prof. Franca Meloni (Italy).
- Board Certifications: Certificates of first, second and advanced (Interventional) level of expertise in Abdominal Ultrasound.
- Professional Philosophy on Ultrasound: Ultrasound is the cornerstone of modern gastroenterology, and we cannot even imagine how gastroenterologists practiced before the invention and widespread introduction of ultrasound into medicine. It has become our third eye, and over the years of practice it has evolved into an invaluable tool, helping us in everyday diagnostics and, most importantly, in managing challenging and complex cases.
