Vito Cantisani
- Full Name: Vito Cantisani
- Credentials: MD, PhD. Prof. Vito Cantisani is Full Prof. of Radiology and Vice-Dean of the Faculty of Medicine and Dentistry, Sapienza University Rome. He is Chairman of the Complex Unit of Teleradiology, Polo Reatino, Sapienza University Rome.
- Specialty/Focus: His research interest focuses on MPUS, AI, US contrast media in abdominal and non-abdominal applications, oncological and non-oncological applications in correlation with multislice-CT and enhanced-MRI and US-elastography, mainly for thyroid, testicle, liver, breast, kidney, salivary glands, carotid and aorta.
- Education/Training: Prof. Cantisani graduated in Medicine and Surgery from Sapienza University of Rome in 1999 with Laude and obtained his medical license in 2000. He completed his Radiology residency at Sapienza University of Rome in 2003 with Laude. During his training, he was a Visiting Fellow at Johns Hopkins Hospital (2001) and a Research Fellow in Abdominal Radiology at Brigham and Women’s Hospital, Harvard Medical School (2002). He earned a PhD in Thoracic and Cardiovascular Pathophysiology and Imaging in 2010 and completed a Master in Health Management at Sapienza University of Rome, updated in 2020 then he Became Full Prof of Radiology

- Professional Philosophy on Ultrasound: Prof. Cantisani believes that ultrasound is one of the most valuable imaging tools in modern medicine because it provides real-time, non-invasive, and radiation-free assessment of patients. Recent advances, including multiparametric ultrasound, contrast-enhanced ultrasound (CEUS), and quantitative imaging software, have significantly expanded its diagnostic capabilities. These technologies enable more precise tissue characterization, functional assessment, and treatment monitoring, supporting earlier diagnosis, personalized patient management, and more informed clinical decision-making.
- Personalisation: Prof. Cantisani actively contributes to public engagement and third-mission initiatives and has been involved in the organization of social and charitable events. Outside his professional activities, he is an enthusiastic swimmer and table football (Subbuteo) player. He has a strong interest in cinema, theatre, and music, reflecting his commitment to cultural enrichment and community involvement.
