WFUMB CoE Chisinau hands-on training „Basic abdominal ultrasound” for gastroenterologists.
Held in 22 June 2019, Vadul lui Voda, Republic of Moldova.

The event was held during the Summer School of Gastroenterology and Hepatology of Moldova, that took place on 21-22 June 2019.
In conjunction with the:
- Gastroenterology Discipline of Internal Medicine Department of SUMPh “Nicolae Testemitanu”
- Association for the Study of the Liver of the Republic of Moldova
- The Gastroenterology Laboratory of the SUMPh “Nicolae Testemitanu”
The hands-on was attended by more than 100 participants (gastroenterologists and fellows in training) from Moldova and Transnistria.

Basic theoretical course. Introduction in abdominal ultrasound examinations. Common pathologies and special topics in abdominal ultrasound examinations
- Examination technique and Sonographic anatomy of the Abdominal Cavity, Sergiu Puiu
- Examination of the liver. Liver segments, biliary tree, portal system and vessels. Liver pathology. Diffuse changes. Focal liver lesions, Carolina Tambala
- Examination of the gall bladder, common bile duct. Gall bladder pathology: Stones and tumors. Bile duct pathology: Causes of obstruction, Sergiu Puiu
- Examination of the pancreas. Pancreas pathology. Focal lesions. Inflammatory changes, Sergiu Puiu
- Examination of the spleen and abdominal lymph nodes, Carolina Tambala
- First look at stomach and bowel – typical positions. How to find the appendix? Pathology of gastrointestinal tract, Sergiu Puiu
- Examination of abdominal vessels – landmarks, Carolina Tambala

- Assessment of the liver and biliary system.
- Assessment of the gall bladder and bile duct.
- Assessment of the pancreas and retroperitoneum.
- Assessment of the spleen and abdominal lymph nodes.
